The successful candidate for this position will be required to work closely with an established team as well as managing relationships with external businesses & organisations. You will be expected to manage & be knowledgeable about all areas of the marina operations. You will be flexible & intuitive. You will have the ability to communicate well – this is essential for a successful Marina Manager.
All applicants must be eligible to work within the UK & they also must be fit & able bodied as there is a physical element to this role. Applicants must have their own transport & a Full Clean Driving License is desirable.
A summary of some of the duties are listed below;
- Management of the Marina Operations with Excellent Organisational Potential
- Management of the Marina Office & Marina Maintenance Team
- Promotion & Retention of Mooring rentals, Boat Sales & Boat Hire
- Improve & maintain excellent Customer Service levels
- Improve and maintain best practice
- Awareness of Health & Safety Legislation & best practice
- Coordinating Chandlery stock & ancillary sales
- Coordinating events for the boating calendar i.e. Boat Shows and Open Days
- High degree of computer literacy & ability to produce literature & content for the Company Website & Social Media.
The key elements of the role are to work closely with Managing Director & the rest of the team to coordinate safe, efficient operations, ensure excellent customer service & increase company profits.

- Attending off-site run courses to increase personal awareness
- Exhibiting excellent qualities as a team leader
- Demonstration of competent ability to solve problems
- Making improvements & enhancements to company systems & reporting back to the General Manager on a weekly basis.
- Ensuring accuracy & compliance
- Working patterns to include weekends – particularly in summer months.
- Conducting staff recruitment, training & performance management.
Full on-the-job training spanning the first two years will be given & a rewarding benefits and salary package (negotiable) is available to the successful applicant with a potential permanent position at the end of training. This position is subject to a 6 month probationary period.
Specific Personal Goals
Competency on Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
Knowledge of Photoshop.
Competency on Sage Line 50
Basic computer maintenance skills
Knowledge of Facebook & Twitter
Ability to coach & train staff
Ability to specifically target marketing activities
Monitoring of the Pilling’s Lock customer experience
Enhancement of customer database
Expansion of customer activity
General Maintenance Skills
– i.e. being able to replace bulbs & fuses, test equipment & identify problems.
Ensuring maintenance of company property
Being able to read & understand plans & diagrams
A keen eye for detail
Coordination of Contingency Plans i.e. adverse weather action plans
Development & Utilisation of personal Boat Handling Skills
Managing staff to enhance company performance
Ability to assist & train customers i,e. Day Hire Boat Use
Management of Holiday Accommodations on site
Competency on Assessing & Valuing Boats for resale.
Producing Boat sales literature that is professional & accurate.
Liaison with Marine Surveyors, Brokerage Clients and Partner brokers
Liaison with Workshop Subcontractor & knowledge of services available
Liaising with Advertising Partners
Ability to help out other company departments when required
– i.e Restaurant & Bar Management.
Monitor performance of Restaurant & Bar.
