Dear Paul
It is with some regret I wish to inform you that we will departing your great Marina for good on 1st July 2009.
We have thoughly enjoyed our stay with you, but because of distance to travel we have decided to move
to a marina on the Kennet and Avon canal which is only 30 minute drive from our home.

We both think you run a great Marina and really loved watching it mature into a quite a little oasis.
The Boathouse food, drink and ambience is hard to beat.

So wishing you all the best for the future

Angela and Geoff

Hi Paul,

This mail is from both myself and Ray to lend support to you, your staff and your lovely marina. We have been most surprised by some of the messages on your website of late and can only think that these persons must be in a parallel world and not actually on the same marina as myself and Ray.

Since we arrived at Pillings at the beginning of your venture we have always been delighted with the helpful and friendly way that you and your staff have dealt with us and any problems we have had.

I had always envisioned the cafe/bar to be exactly as it was intended, to be a bistro type bar/restaurant. Although Ray was slightly disappointed that there would be no draft beer, the reasons for this were fully explained at the time and have since proved to be correct.

During the present economic climate we fully appreciate that the objectives that you have for the marina i.e electronic gates etc, may have to be deferred to a later date and we personally have no problem with this.

Perhaps these people should go to the marina we came from and sample life there, where we were told not to use the water as it was on a meter and not to put our rubbish in the bins provided because the marina manager had to empty them, ( I kid you not), also there was no electric hook up facilities for non residents as the electrical supply to the marina could not support them and the hook ups that were there frequently tripped out if everyone wanted to do their washing at the same time.

As to the points made by Mr. Llewellyn about the marina being open to the general public, yes I suppose in an ideal world this would not have to happen, but obviously the residents and leisure moorers trade would be nothing like sufficient to maintain this facility. You only have to have gone to Sawley marina over the years where there are many more boats moored and see the bar closed the majority of the time.

Please pass our thanks on to all members of your staff, keep up the good work, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Regards,

Kate and Ray Bramley, ANNIE D.

Just come back home from your open day. Excellent location and great dog display.
Quite disappointed in the service in the restaurant - left sitting unserved for quite a while, asked to sit back down when I went to the counter to order, order taken using the wrong menu, correct menu brought out, no order taken. Left the restaurant with a coffee and empty stomach.
Hope things get better
Nick and Wendy
<strong><em>Dear Nick & Wendy,
We're so sorry you didn't have an enjoyable meal at our cafe this weekend. We were extremely busy with the event being our first one and at times we did struggle to get to everyone. Rest assured we are working hard to ensure we get 100% satisfaction from our clientelle and please do come back and try us again sometime very soon.
Paul
(PS I was on-site all weekend and we did have dozens of compliments about the food and service today so hopefully this was just a rare incident that doesn't normally happen)

Hi David,
Thanks for your concern. We managed to pop up to Sawley last Thursday and get the boat safely round the corner and into Pillings. Luckily we were between rain fronts since the Monday after, the day we were going to move the boat, it was raining heavily again.

I say this as when i bought my N/boat last March from Bidford on Avon i experienced flood waters, and it is a scary matter when the River level rises some 8 ft above normal level!
Seeing half a mature tree stream past your window and ending up in your hosts back garden poised above a stone wall wasn't a pleasent start to my canal boating.
So glad for the Stratford canal to open to bring it on home up here before a repeat performance!
Had my fears about the stories of the Soar and Trent, but delighted to know thanks to the fantastically thought out sluice up the way we have no worries about flooding at Pillings Lock!
Despite all this rain i see the Marina's water level has only risen about 2 ".
Roll on the end of the month when the weather will be mild for my friends visit and mini cruise!
