Great news for all you drinkers out there…we’ve just signed a deal with “Birra Morretti” – Italy’s biggest draft beer – to have it as a guest draft beer for the next few months.
Expect a Launch Party and events very soon!
We’re very pleased to let you all know we have arranged a special New Years Eve for Pilling’s Boat-House! Tickets area available at £15.00 each from the Marina Office and we are keeping this under wraps for the next two weeks to allow Berth Holders to have a priority. Call into the office for more details!
As it’s that cold & dark time of year drawing closer, we wanted to remind you all to check your batteries in your boat and on-board appliances. Firstly for safety and general maintenance on your main battery banks as they could have had some wear and tear this summer.
But also don’t forget those small batteries in smoke detectors, gas detectors and similar. Remember that low batteries usually result in warnings and beeps that not only mean the device won’t work properly, but it could mean an uneccessary trip to your boat to stop it from beeping at your neighbours!
As some of you may know, this New Years Eve we’re planning a bit more entertainment at Pilling’s Boat House and including a new feature – the “Pilling’s Lock Boating Awards”. The evening will be a ticket only event but there will be a substanial discount for Berth Holders.
Being a completely new type of event, we’d like your views and suggestions on what we should be making awards for. Things like “Best Narrowboat”, “Best Cruiser”, ”Best Christmas Lights” would be included, but we’d like some light-hearted awards too like “Biggest Repair Bill” and ”Best New Dent”. We’d also know how you’d like to recognise a member of the local community who’s been helpful and supportive of boating in the local area.
When we’ve decided what award categories are going to be recognised, we will then have confidential voting forms available at the office for everyone to have their vote. Entries will be counted and verified before NYE and the awards given out on the night.
Web users will be glad to know that comments are now open on this feature! so go ahead and let us know what you think we should all be recognising at this event…but please be positive and constructive with your views and don’t spoil the surprise if you have someone in mind! …
Just a quick update to say we have had some great progress with the Landscaping and all finished levels are in around the driveway and main gate. Grass seed has been ordered and we’re also looking into a few trees to start the winter planting. If anyone knows where we can get a good deal on tress, bushes and plants then do let us know!
We must also ask that from this point onwards customers do not park on the grass verges at all. The ground is very soft and will be for many months so we do not want vehicles making marks in the topsoil - plus we have ample spaces in both car parks so a proper parking space is just a short walk away.
Thanks!
Our next quiz is on 4th November 2009 and may have a Bonfire Night theme…so brush up on your history! Same deal of £2.50 per person entry to include buffet.
Book early to avoid disappointment on 01509 414627.
20 Veteran Cars are due in for a half hour cool-off stop (and coffee break!) at 10.30am this Sunday, so any car buff’s are more than welcome to come along and have a look!
If marina users can keep the area near the Facilities Building clear until 11.15am when they have gone we would really appreciate it. Please also be careful using Flesh Hovel Lane as many cars of this age don’t have very good brakes!
Anyone wishing to take photos please do email them to the office and we’ll post a few on our website.
Power Out/Office & Cafe Closed 13th Oct 2009
Published October 1, 2009 Uncategorized Leave a CommentThose Lovely people at E-ON are at it again and we have just had notification that our power supply will be off between 09.00hrs and 17.00hrs on Tuesday 13th October 20009.
We will therefore close the office for Tuesday that week and open Wednesday 14th October 2009 instead. The cafe will be closed for the duration of the power-cut but we’ll do our very best to be open for 5pm that day and keep the very popular winter £5.95 evening menu alive!
We cannot apologise enough for this power supply interruption but there are major overhaul works happening locally which should result in a better, more reliable supply in the future.
E-ON can be contacted directly on 024 7618 5226 if you wanted to know more information nearer the time and quote incident no. 9242.
