F & G Jetties…

A very, very windy Friday afternoon and F & G Jetties were finally completed, finger moorings and mooring posts. Rolec are coming back to fit the 240v bollards and lighting next week & we’re hoping to get them cabled from the mains and ‘live’ in the next few weeks too. Other good news is the spacings have given us an extra few widebeam berths which will be on our “Availability” page very soon, albeit, we may have to move one or two narrowboats up a space!

H jetty has been piled and needs fingers fitting now – which will be done next week. We also hope to have the 12 wide beam berths on E Jetty completed by Monday night when the piling rig is off-hired and possible the spine of D jetty in…but that really does depend on the weather as the cross-wind was slowing things down a lot by Friday lunchtime.

First bricks laid…

Building work started on the main Facilities Building on Monday this week and the photograph shows the first lines of bricks already laid in the background. The building’s planned schedule for completion is early 2008 now and it’s great to see it started.

In the foreground are the foundations of the Wood Workshop.

Piling Rig Underway Again…

The bigger and improved Piling Rig took to the water again this week to complete the installation of jetties E, F, G & H. We managed to get another 24 berths completed in the last day and a half, these were berths F1 to F19 and G1 to G5. The aim is to get all the mooring posts for the 149 berths on E-H in the next 2 weeks – that’s 7.5 posts per day. The rig managed 9 today, so it could be done even sooner!

We definitely need to get the berths completed for the end of summer as up to 7 boats are arriving each week now.

The main bridge to connect these jetties to land is complete and also being installed this weekend…we are working around the clock this week, that’s for sure!
