It’s a very sad sight – dozens of once shiny bicycles now laying rusty and neglected for all the Marina folk to see!
Most of them we photographed today have seized brakes & rusty chains, not fit for the purpose of a spring bike ride unless a lot of work is done. Flat tyres and ripped saddles in every row too.
There are also a gathering of bikes left on the “Short-Stay” bike rack by the gas tank – choosing to ignore the notice clearly posted next to that rack!
So, on Wednesday 20th April 2011 we will be removing all bikes left on the bike racks and moving them to a temporary storage facility which will incur a £2 per week charge per bicycle. If after 10 weeks any bicycles are still left unclaimed (by 1st July 2011) they will be disposed of.
It is important all bicycle owners understand that no responsibility is accepted for bicycles that have been left on-site unattended for the week commencing 18th April 2011 to 25th April 2011 but we will do our best to recognise cycles that are in daily use/good working order. No responsibility will be accepted for any locks/chains that are cut to remove neglected cycles too.
We hope to start the summer with Bike Racks that our keen Cyclists here at the Marina can use every day and are free from cycles destined only for the scrapyard – at present they are unable to do this due to the inconsideration of other bicycle owners.
Your cooperation is appreciated and call us here at the office if you have any queries.
